The Cape Girardeau County Area Medical Society - CGCAMS - is a non-profit professional organization incorporated in 1905. The CGCAMS represents more than 200 Cape Girardeau County physicians.

The Mission of the Society

The mission of the Society is to serve the people of the Cape Girardeau County in matters of medical care, prevention and improve public health.

5 Goals of the CGCAMS

1. To enhance the reputation of CGCAMS and its members though professional and personal development through continuing medical education programs for physicians and staff.

2. To promote interdisciplinary harmony among our members and maintain a member driven approach based on effective communication.

3. To vigorously maintain the highest ethical standards.

4. To be an effective advocate for our members and strive to maintain the highest quality of care for patients.

5. To represent physicians' interest when interacting with managed care organizations, third party payors, legislative groups, and regulatory agencies.

As a new physician in the area, CGCAMS was a great way to connect with the local medical community and earn CME at the same time.
